Gríma - Runic Variable Font

Gríma is a variable font for the Younger Futhark runic script. It was designed with versatility and legibility in mind, and aims to be seamlessly usable in contemporary contexts without tossing historical accuracy completely out the window. You can try Gríma and its variation axes interactively here, and download its latest version from the Github repository.

Its development began in the context of my dissertation for my MSc dissertation at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, Gríma: Experiments on Variable Type Design of Runic Letters, advised by Prof. Artur Rebelo and Prof. Sérgio Rebelo.

A big thank you to Svein Ekers, Dr Dan Reynolds, and Dr Laila Kitzler Åhfeldt, who helped define the direction of development and refine results as the design process unfolded.
